Everyone wants to make a difference in life, but the drive that leads to the profound impact of individuals depends on the amount of dedication that one inputs. This kind of incessant commitment is demonstrated by the munificent nonprofit organization: Livingstone CDC. Founded in 2010, Livingstone CDC is run by Doctor Kyung I. Park, Mrs. Park, and magnanimous volunteer medics. Altogether, they created Livingstone on a motto that “everyone is an equal” meaning that anyone from any race or status is welcome. Through their altruism, they have implemented much change in the Orange County community, specifically in the city of Stanton. Since Doctor Park had a vision to open a clinic in which people with low income could feel free to obtain health support without being hesitant over other problems with welfare, Livingstone CDC offers help with medical, dental, and health care. And in order to maximize their opportunities to reach others, Livingstone has formed a student volunteer organization last year, to teach students leadership and integrity.
Through Livingstone’s volunteer program, students are able to exhibit the fundamental qualities of taking charge of communal matters. What truly differentiates this program from other volunteer institutions is that Livingstone CDC purposefully tries to provide students with insight into the true conditions of life outside of a confined community. Through such volunteer gatherings like the Food Bank, the volunteers at Livingstone learn about the harsh conditions of the economy and the effect it has on the thousands of people in a given city. At Food Bank, these student volunteers manually package and ship imperishable foods to families with low income. Through this, they learn the aspect of “giving before taking”, and most importantly, they learn to grow as a cohesive body and develop qualities of leaders. Another aspect that truly sets Livingstone’s Volunteer program from that of others is that students are constantly educated and mentored by inspirational figures who have succeeded in reaching their ultimate aspirations. Every month, a new guest speaker comes to Livingstone and provides insight on their profession and how they faced challenges that motivated themselves to fulfill their goals. Through these gatherings, students not only get inspired and motivated to pursue their dreams, but the speakers also widen the student’s perspectives’ on an array of occupations. As a result, students are enlightened with knowledge, and discover how to make an impact on society with each humble step.
Many programs attempt to assist the community; however, Livingstone CDC takes this concept but adds a twist. The reason as to why this non-profit clinic deserves a full-hearted acclamation is because it consistently puts others first and cultivates the qualities of affection, responsibility, and integrity in each of its supporters. Through their endless dedication, Doctor Kyung I. Park and Mrs. Park put forth strenuous effort to make a difference, one step at a time. Through the everlasting magnanimity, Livingstone CDC has notably set the bar for an ideal mindset in future generations.
