The Diamond Bar High School Men’s Varsity Soccer team has had a wonderful season so far this year. The soccer team has already won a league championship and is currently up 10 wins in their league with only one loss and one tie.
This is an amazing accomplishment as the DBHS Soccer team had a record of 0 wins, 8 ties, and 1 loss coming into the league. The hard working players have yet to lose an away game and have an outstanding record of conceding only 2 goals in 7 games and have scored a draw dropping 15 goals. These amazing statistics can be attributed to the hard work and determination possessed by all members of the soccer team.
Zachary Unger, who plays in the defensive left-back position, stated that whenever he is playing, he “always strives to do [his] best and aims for victory in each and every match.”
This is the same mindset that is possessed by every single one of his teammates and this positive mindset is what leads the team to glory. According to Zachary Unger, the most adverse hard-ship his team has faced, in his opinion, was when the Diamond Bar High School soccer team was down 0-1 against one of their biggest rivals, Diamond Ranch. However, Unger has stated that “even in the face of defeat, [his] team was undaunted and continued to try their hardest.”
Although the DBHS soccer team would end up losing the match, the team members were not disappointed as they knew that they tried their best and put their best effort into the game. The level of maturity and sportsmanship that the DBHS soccer team members have is equivalent to that of professional teams. And like professional players, the DBHS soccer players play their games with a high level of pride of the school that they are representing. Such dedication can be an inspiration to us all.
The Diamond Bar High School soccer team is currently in the CIF (California Interscholastic Federation) playoffs and has won their first match against Whittier High School with a score of 2-1. The second game of the CIF playoffs is set to take place on Tuesday, February 26, at the Diamond Bar High School stadium. The DBHS soccer team will continue their endeavors and will work their hardest to reach the CIF regional championship.
