In commemoration of the 20th Anniversary of the Los Angeles Riots, the Korean American Coalition (KAC) is having their annual essay contest with a theme of “Diversity is our strength”. Since the devastating Los Angeles Riots in 1992, the Korean American Community has created close interethnic partnership with various ethnic communities, particularly the African American, Jewish, and Latino communities.
With this in mind, KAC is offering an opportunity for young Los Angeles Students to earn scholarships while learning about the history of their community as well as how their community fits in the racially diverse city of Los Angeles. All LAUSD students, grades 7-12 including ESL, and undergraduate students are eligible to apply.
Essays are due Sunday, April 15 and numerous scholarships, totaling $10,000 will be awarded. More information is available on the KAC website: www.kacla.org.
Hi! This is a nice informative article.
However, I would do much more than just providing a list of info. You should talk to people who are actually participating in the contest, or talk about the previous winner! Be a little more creative when writing articles:)
