The haunting thrill of the year is back! Every year there is a crowd of avid participants of the annual Knott’s Scary Farm “ritual”. People come at late hours and seem to enjoy the pleasure of being chased after clown and other unpleasant costumed people.
Knott’s Berry Farm was actually created in resemblance of a ghost town. Everywhere you go there are townhouses that look run down and old-fashioned, in order to bring about that eerie feeling. Although the intention of the park is supposed to be that of peculiarity, people constantly want more from the amusement park. Knott’s Berry Farm rather unites its customers than anything else, like most amusement parks do.
But just like its original intention to implement a fear factor or eerie feeling through their ghost town configuration, Knott’s Scary Farm transforms into a haunted land mass during the month of October. Most people are hyped for Halloween or the idea of getting a small scare during their mundane lives. At Knott’s Scary Farm, people are chased constantly throughout the park and through mazes. The workers and the visitors both cannot have any physical encounter or else they are kicked out of the park. This annual “ritual” is more of a time when people express joy and unity through their greatest fears.
With October’s Halloween vibe kicking in, people seem to have diffe
rent views on the holiday and Knott’s Scary Farm. “I have never been to Knott’s Scary Farm, but since it is my senior year I am going to go! I am really excited!”, said Avissa Zomorrodian, senior at Beckman High School. It was clear that some were waiting for this event whereas others were not really interested, “I went before and it was pretty terrifying. I don’t know if I will go again but it was a pretty crazy experience!”, said Lauren Kim, senior at Beckman High School.
The month of October gives people chills as they prepare for their Halloween. A huge addition to the Halloween vibe is Knott’s Scary Farm and their “ritual” of late night scares.
