As summer break is already coming to an end, people are rushing to finish the many activities they started. Throughout the break, some activities include working out, taking summer classes, studying for the SAT/ACT, traveling to different places, volunteering, and earning a driver’s license. On top of that, people are feeling anxiety and excitement as school is starting soon.
Going on a trip is the best way to relieve stress after a busy school year. Giuliana Ramirez, a junior at Academy of the Canyons, recently traveled to Springfield, Missouri over the summer to take a break from the tiring school year. According to Giuliana, “after a day there, I felt peaceful. I had no stress because I accomplished a lot over the summer. I took summer classes, hung out with friends, and traveled. However, I don’t want school to start! I like going to school, but I don’t want to be stressed out. Having a break feels so nice and being able to go places with friends is the best part of summer.”
Every year, becoming healthy is a goal that many people reach for. Sarah Yoon, a junior at Saugus High school, talked about her lifestyle change as she started working out over the summer. Sarah stated that she “started working out right after school ended. I started getting tired of it during the middle. I feel anxious because I want to get a better body before school starts, but I have not done much. I hate school though. I don’t want school to start because I know the amount of stress junior year has.”
Additionally, Alexis Tabibian, a junior at Academy of the Canyons, volunteered at the Stevenson Ranch library. She “loves meeting new people and it makes [her] happy that [she’s] involved with her community. [She] feels that [she] has not accomplished much over the summer, but feels excited for school to start. Seeing friends, learning more, and meeting new teachers is the highlight of starting the fall semester.”
Jasmin is a freshman at Academy of the Canyons. According to Jasmin, “I have been getting tutored over the summer and started working out. I am super excited to attend Academy of the Canyons because of all the new people I will meet. I don’t want summer to end though. I feel nervous because I’m going into highschool and it’s a whole new experience. When school starts, I have to start volunteering, studying, and working. Overall, I want more time.”
Everyone has spent their summers differently as they work towards their own paths. The school year starting is an exciting, yet frightful feeling for most students. Summer break should be spent wisely as it is ending soon.
