During these past few months of social distancing and staying at home, many people have been faced with boredom. Staying at home for long periods of time leads to laziness, and as a result many people have been having less productive days. However, even at home, people can still find their interests and pursue hobbies.
It is important to try new things no matter what environment you are in. People mostly think that their home is a place of comfort, and no work should be done there, however, finding hobbies and putting them into action can be an enjoyable experience. When trying to find things of interest, you may want to look around your house to see if anything sparks your attention.
For example, if a painting on the wall catches someone’s eye, they might consider starting to draw or paint. “Gravit” is a free and useful website for those who like drawing or painting, but do not have the necessary supplies. This website allowed you to draw, paint, or color a canvas all online. It is great for those who do not want to spend money on expensive materials for a hobby they are not sure if they will enjoy. One of the benefits of using an online canvas is that there is an unlimited amount of canvases available, and one can always edit and save it to their computer.
In addition, if one likes music, they can try playing an instrument. It is very easy to start playing an instrument at home. People can look up online books or download apps to teach themselves how to play. A cello or a keyboard may seem very costly, but there are many used instruments on sale that are put up on the internet for a cheaper price. Playing an instrument is not only fun, but also is something that will stay with you throughout your entire life. Personally, I have been playing the guitar throughout these few weeks at home. Because of my busy schedule, I was not able to practice much during school days, yet, now that we are mostly at home, I find myself being able to do things I enjoy more often and take a break from all the schoolwork.
Starting a hobby can help people be more productive by doing things they enjoy. I hope to motivate my peers to try new things while stuck at home. It may seem unreasonable to find your interests in a place you know so well, but once you start a hobby it can help you spend your time more effectively. In addition, skills gained from your hobbies may be beneficial later on in the future.
