Trump. It’s a word that doesn’t seem to require any further explanation. Donald John Trump has been on the news for some time after he recently became the front-running candidate for the Republican party in the 2016 presidential campaign. People tend look at his actions in the present, but overlook his past, which plays an important factor in defining who he is today.
Trump was born in Queens County in New York City on June 14, 1946 by Mary and Fred Trump. He was schooled in the New York Military Academy from the 8th grade to the end of high school because he had been “a pretty rough fellow,” his father explained in an interview with Times. After graduating high school, Trump attended Fordham University for two years before entering the Wharton School of Business. While attending Wharton, Trump worked in his father’s company, Elizabeth Trump & Son, before Trump graduated in 1968 with a bachelor’s degree in economics.
Even after Trump graduated, Trump continued working for Elizabeth Trump & Son. After several projects, Trump was given an opportunity to buy Penn Central Transportation Company, which at the time, was in bankruptcy. Trump bought the company and also bought the Commodore Hotel and started The Trump Organization.
The Trump Organization is a very broad federation of industries including real estate, construction, entertainment, beauty pageants, and much more. Some of his most recognized projects include the Trump Tower, Trump International Hotel and Tower, The Apprentice, and The Trump Entrepreneur Initiative. Trump’s net worth is $4 billion, according to Forbes magazine.
Trump’s past most definitely has its pros regarding his Presidential camp. His years of experience would help him to deal with the nation’s economy if he were to be elected president. However, many believe that Trump’s wealthy past life corrupts him and makes him an ineligible candidate. Trump has publicly announced that he is using his own money to fund his campaign, but has also indirectly displayed himself to be unfit to be President. Students voice their opinions about Trump to JSR.
Valencia High School freshman, George Kim says, “Donald Trump has too much money and thinks that he is a god.” Joshua Lee, another freshman at Valencia adds, “Donald Trump thinks that he is invincible because of all the money he has. He thinks that he has nothing to lose.”
In another interview with JSR, Valencia High School junior, Allison Kim criticized Trump. “Not only is Trump greedy, but he is a racist, sexist, and obviously is only interested in his own personal interest and profit.” She adds, “He also doesn’t know what he is doing, his explanations to his ‘solutions’ are broad or nonexistent.”
There are many different views concerning Donald Trump and his money, but it can be concluded that he is a very prosperous man, who is more than willing to use his money to bring him closer to his goals.
