Just this past weekend, FBLA’s (Future Business Leaders of America) state tournament took place with various counties sending their winners to compete for the title of state champion. With the tournament concluded, students of Centennial HIgh School are looking forward to the national competition, which is taking place this summer.
With their club being bigger than ever, Centennial High School was able to move onto nationals once again this year. Mr. Lara, the club’s advisor, says, “I have high hopes for my students this year just like every other year, and I believe that they will be able to do their best this summer just like they did this past weekend.”
Even the competitors themselves are excited about the results both now and in the future. Ryan Chou, one of the competitors this year, said, “I’m really glad that I was able to get third in Computer Problem Solving and have the opportunity to go to nationals this year”.
Since many of Centennial’s students are qualified to go to nationals, the funding that will be needed is actually very large. For this reason, the FBLA club is looking to hold various fundraisers in order to lower the burden on the students. These funds must cover the plane tickets and the hotel costs as well, which will likely be very large.
Currently FBLA is doing their best to gather the necessary funds to support the students and is even looking into securing funds from the school as well. Whatever the case, getting to nationals again this year is a major accomplishment and they are all looking forward to showing off their hard work at nationals this year.
