There are many different opinions about which sport is the best, but for me, baseball is the best.
Ever since I was a child, I watched baseball. Every time there was a game, I would sit on my living room couch with my family and watch the game on television. It would be a family affair as the entire family would cheer on our favorite team as the excitement would rise and fall throughout the nine innings. Sometimes, our family would have the privilege to go watch a baseball game in person at the stadium and the loud cheers of the fans would energize not just the entire stadium, but the core of my being.
I was never strong at sports and never being good at sports, I did not quite enjoy watching sports as well. I did not understand the concepts much and in the beginning, I was typically always just bored because I couldn’t follow. That is until baseball came along. It is now over ten years since I began watching baseball and I have come to realize how fun it is to both watch and play this particular sport. My father and brother both play baseball and I am usually asked to join them.
I have also found the joy of watching baseball outside of the major leagues. My brother joined a little league when he was in the fourth grade and it would be a treat to go watch his games and of course watch him in action. Soon, I began involving myself in baseball gaining a deeper understanding of the sport. I learned baseball is highly team oriented and everyone has a specific responsibility. Knowing these aspects of baseball, my love for the sport grew even more.
However, nothing beats the major leagues and my favorite team is the Dodgers. I do have a biased opinion because, my family being huge Dodgers fans, they were the only team I watched as a child. My very first game was when I was in the fourth grade many years back and I remember walking into the stadium with awe. I was very excited for I had always longed to go to the same stadium as the Dodgers and I even remember running into Magic Johnson as I was walking to my seat. Everything from the smell of the Dodger Dogs to seeing the victorious fireworks after the game late at night were all part of my amazing first experience.
With all of these things combined, I have come to the conclusion that baseball, beyond any other sport is the best sport. Not only does baseball have the best teams, but the sportsmanship and skill involved in playing baseball, the time and dedication it takes to perfect the sport when playing, and the fanship all make baseball the best sport to play and watch.
Babe Ruth said it best when he said “Baseball is and always will be, to me, the best game the best game in the world.”
