Are you sick of eating plain, unoriginal food? Do you want to excite your taste buds with glitter and flair? If so, you can go to Goodie Girls at 637 Foothill Blvd in La Cañada Flintridge and experience the magical world of delicious cupcakes.
The comfortable and cute cupcake shop just opened and is the second storefront for Goodie Girls, which won the 2011 season of Food Network’s “Cupcake Wars” competition. In addition to cupcakes, it serves cakes, coffee, cake pops and cookies. The inside is decorated like a girl’s dream room, with clean white walls, colorful assortments of cupcakes and sprinkles of vintage style.
When asked about the shop’s interior, an employee said, “Annette [Starbuck, the owner] wanted the walls to be white because they’re hard to keep clean and that shows we care about our store,” and the shop has touches of pink and glitter to mirror Starbuck’s “girly” personality.
When I visited the store, the friendly cashier then helped me select a few items: the Glitter Glide, a strawberry cupcake with cream cheese icing and pink chocolate shavings; the Teddy, a soft chocolate cupcake filled with fudge; and the Luv-a-Lot, a classic red velvet cupcake with a heart on top.
With the perfect balance of moist texture and rich flavor, the cupcakes were just as delicious as I had expected.
So, if your stomach is tired of everyday snacks, you can try Goodie Girls. To immerse yourself in the fall mood, try this month’s most popular flavors: chocolate salted butterscotch and pumpkin pancake.
