First announced nearly two years ago, Spider-Man: Homecoming has become a huge hit since its release in the beginning of July.
The film has already exceeded the box-office ticket sales of both The Amazing Spider-Man movies. After earning approximately $120 million on its opening weekend, the movie has exploded in popularity. At this rate, it would be no surprise for the success of the film to surpass that of other Spider-Man movies. Tickets are still selling out at some theaters a month after the release.
Following the story of high schooler Peter Parker (Tom Holland), the movie has many aspects that teenage audiences can find relatable. For one thing, the name of the film itself already reveals that this movie is set in a high school setting and revolves around high school teenagers. This factor of relatability to the audience is one reason that contributes to the extensive popularity this film has acquired thus far.

This film was also unlike the other movies of the Spider-Man franchise in that it incorporated many comedic components and had an overall lighter, more humorous tone, which is expected from a movie that takes place in more of a high school atmosphere and focuses more on the teenager aspects of Peter Parker’s life. This, for many, made the movie more entertaining and enjoyable, another reason why this blockbuster is so acclaimed.
Of course, a big part of the popularity and success of Spider-Man: Homecoming has come from the massive marketing campaign that happened for months leading up to the premiere. Posters, trailers, and billboards publicized the blockbuster, and the actors and actresses themselves consistently promoted it on their social media accounts.
