D23 is the official fanclub of The Walt Disney Company. Ever since its formation in 2009, they have held an annual expo. At the expo, D23 gives a lot of fan service and news about current and upcoming Disney animations, movies, and events. This year, D23 took place at the Anaheim Convention Center from July 14 to 16.
Typically, people hold a stereotypical image of Disney: cartoons and animations. However, The Walt Disney Company owns a variety of animation studios and film studios. The most well-known movie company owned by Disney is Marvel Studios and Lucasfilm, also known as, the Star Wars company. Therefore, many people pay attention to the D23 expo.
At the D23 expo, they reveal animation and cartoon news, and movie companies like Marvel reveal their plans for their upcoming movies. This year, Marvel Studio made their huge announcement for upcoming movies in commemoration of their 10 year anniversary. Within their franchise, Marvel official revealed news about their next movie: Avengers, Infinity War. The cast was revealed and they showed official movie trailers and clips to help promote the upcoming film that will premiere on May 4th, 2018.
As the Expo came to a close, Disney also announced information about their newest additions to California Disneyland, where there will be a new Star Wars park and hotel, and a new Guardians of Galaxy 2 ride.
