Cherry Blossoms Bloom in Korea Spurring Festivals

Spring is one of the best seasons to explore Korea, with many different exciting outdoor events. As a result, many tourists from around the world travel to Korea. The most popular events that marks the changing of the seasons are the spectacular Cherry Blossom Festivals.

In spring, there are many places all over Korea where you can go to see the beautiful, light pink cherry blossoms.  For example, Yeouido and Seokchon Lake in Seoul and Jeju Island are some of the most popular locations. In Korea, the cherry blossom can be found in many places, but the major festivals attract crowds beginning in March.  The blossoming begins on Jeju Island in late March and some die-hard festival goers will make the trip to Jeju Island.  Others typically enjoy the experience from the more local festivals on the peninsula.

Every year, the festivals attract scores of tourists and locals alike thanks to stunning pink canopies of cherry blossoms and lively atmospheres.  Streets are turned into pedestrian promenades during the festival making it ideal for friends, couples, and families to take a stroll or engage in other activities such as getting their portrait drawn or grab a bite from one of the many street vendors. At the Seokchon Lake Cherry Blossom Festival, hundreds of trees elegantly drape the lake and surrounding area as their sweet scent wafts through the spring air while attendees enjoy the festivities. In places such as the Jeju Island festival, people can even enjoy outdoor music concerts.

Although it may be seasonal, it is a great reason for people to explore Korea during the spring time.
