During life we all make mistakes, but certain mistakes can make a huge impact. Kirsten L, a former student of Holmes Middle School said, “What I would change about my middle school choices would be how I did not pay attention in class because that decision really affected my life and grades.” Grades are not the only main priority in schools, but it is a crucial part of school life and determines a big part of people’s future. If you do not get good grades then it will greatly affect which schools accept you, in both high school and college, or the extreme, you may not be able to graduate.
Arleen C., another student from Holmes, said, “I would always procrastinate on everything and I would do everything last minute which would drop my grades.” Procrastination can lead to bad grades, because there is not enough time to perfect the work, and many students believe that there is always “tomorrow”. Although there may be a lot of work to finish, you should not rely on procrastination. Many others, such as Angelica C. and Logan M. had this same problem, and hopes to change these habits in high school.
Another former middle school student, Nathen S. said, “I regret not interacting with my school and not joining clubs, I was too lazy at that time.” Interacting with schools and clubs have many benefits, such as being in many pictures in the yearbook, and learning many new and different things. Schools have a variety of clubs and after school activities, such as Robotics, Yearbook, Odyssey of the Mind, Key Club, and many more.
A previous student that attended Lawrence Middle School, Rachel H., said that she wished she had never fallen into peer pressure, and regrets changing herself for others. Although peer pressure should not be something someone should even have to go through, it is something that happens many times during middle school.
In the end, despite the choices made in middle school and many students regretting their past, they now know how to make better choices in the near future and what choices are more beneficial for them.
