A study by Canadian researchers indicated that consuming egg yolks promote the acceleration of heart disease. A recent study published in health journal Atherosclerosis, Dr. David Spence, a neurology professor at University of Western Ontario’s Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry, claimed 20% of 1200 stroke patients consumed whole eggs regularly. He believed that the consumption of the yolk caused their clot induced strokes. Intriguingly, the whites of the eggs do not propose threats; it is the yolk that contains an unwanted guest: cholesterol. “One jumbo chicken egg yolk has about 237 milligrams of cholesterol,” explained Dr. Spence to CNN.
The cholesterol contents in an egg cause plaque to coagulate within arteries and stir up frightening problems. The collection of plaque tend to block artery walls, therefore limiting the amount of blood flow in an individual’s bloodstream. Smoking cigarettes for prolonged periods of time can result in plaque buildup as well. Those who eat egg yolks frequently possess nearly 2/3 as much plaque buildup as smokers.
Smoking and high cholesterol intake are the roots of cardiovascular and heart diseases. Studies and tests showed that cardiovascular diseases and atherosclerosis (plaque build up) decreased significantly in tested patients as they ate balanced and natural meals. Improved respiration rates and extended longevity were expected as well. If consuming egg yolks are just as hazardous as lighting up cigarettes, it is probably sage to occasionally give up those plates of eggs benedict or scrambled eggs for something else. A bowl of all-natural oatmeal with maple syrup and fresh fruit can make a great substitute that is healthy, filling, and toothsome. All in all, keeping the heart healthy and fully functional is a benefit you can’t regret.
