2018 has arrived bringing with it a time for reflection and a time for setting new goals and making changes. During this time many people set new year’s resolutions that can sometimes be unrealistic or very challenging. It is great for those who succeed in keeping their new year’s resolutions, but for others sometimes it seems as though every goal they set just flew out the window with time. So, in the spirit of the new year, challenge yourself to simply embrace opportunity in 2018 and see where that road leads.
As you take the new chances in 2018 make sure you remember that the failures of this past year is not the end. Those doors that closed on you and maybe even abruptly in your face does not mean that it’s over. It just means a chance was given to you to reflect on your mistakes and learn from them and set a goal for improvement. Your failures are also what defines you as a person, so embrace those as well. Sometimes, those failures may seem like a roadblock or an obstacle that can’t be overcome, but remind yourself that you have overcome failures before and survived. Remind yourself time and time again that every time you were set back, you succeeded in other areas and remain optimistic about what’s to come.
When you come face to face to the a new door of opportunity, be willing to take the risk and go for it! Although this is easier said than done, taking the risk will always prove to be beneficial. Yes, there are times when your risks will not pay off and you will fall flat on your face. However, there are also times when those risks will give the biggest payout and you will find yourself in a better place and even a better you. Don’t hold back in fear that you will not be good enough because you never what your potential is until you try. You may find that you are more capable of things than you would have imagined.
Our world is at a place where everything one may need is available to them right at their fingertips. Utilize the tools and resources that surround you everyday and not just the technological tools. Ask for help when needed because help is always available. Don’t be afraid of what’s to come and embrace the opportunities that lie ahead. Some may challenge you and some may be an easy trek, but in the end, all will be worth it. As you embark on 2018, although some doors have closed and others may close, there will always another door opening in your sight.
Here’s to 2018 and a bright year to come!
