Dressed in a chic, black suit, he went viral on Twitter when he was seen standing next to former One Direction member, Liam Payne. Twitter users fell for his charisma and immediately wanted to know who he was, in which the IGOT7s answered.
GOT7 is a South Korean boy band under JYP Entertainment, and they debuted in January 2014 with the catchy title track “Girls Girls Girls” from their first album EP, “Got It?”. Their members consist of JB, Mark, Jinyoung, Jackson, Youngjae, Bambam, and Yugyeom. First described as a hip hop group, their dances involved B-boying and martial art tricks, in which the members Jackson and Mark are mainly responsible for.
As they grow in the industry, we see a new color of the maturing group every year. Their most recent Korean comeback took place on October 10, 2017 with their seventh mini album “7 for 7” featuring the soulful title track “You Are”. Most of these tracks were co-written by each member, and their talents are proved through the album.
A Hong Kong rapper, singer, and dancer based in South Korea, Jackson Wang is best known for his “deep rapping voice” and a funny, outspoken personality, as seen in the Korean and Chinese variety shows. This 23 year old fluently speaks multiple languages and on August 26, he released his first solo album in China with the English title track “Papillon” under the management of Team Wang Jiaer Studio.
Wang’s presence was just one of the small highlights of the MTV Europe Music Awards. Many well-known celebrities took home wins such as Shawn Mendes, Fifth Harmony, Louis Tomlinson, Camila Cabello, and Eminem. GFriend also took home the win for Best Korean Act, showing that KPOP has a growing presence in the music industry across the world.
It is great to see the global influence KPOP has and we hope to see more of it including Jackson’s stunning visual and other K-pop groups on worldwide television!
