Key Club Shows Spirit in Annual Fall Rally Event

On Saturday, November 11th, Key Club International held its annual Fall Rally South at Six Flags Magic Mountain.

Months in advance, Key Club had promoted and prepared for this highly-anticipated event. Considered to be one of the biggest events of the year, Fall Rally is a gathering of Key Clubbers from CNH District, also known as Cali-Nev-Ha. Students from California, as well as out of state (Nevada and Hawaii) came together to have fun, show spirit, bond with each other, and most importantly, raise money and awareness for PTP, the Pediatric Trauma Program.

Starting at 7:30 a.m., Key Clubbers arrived at the main entrance, excited for what was to come shortly. Even before the actual event had begun, they got to know one another, sharing excitement and positivity.

At the front gates, merchandise such as spirit gear, body paint, pom-poms and facial rhinestone stickers was sold to maximize the passion and spirit that would soon be showcased at the big holistic gathering in the Golden Bear Theater, as well as during spirit battles with other Key Club divisions.

The Key Clubbers got inside the theme park before it opened to the public, and once inside, rushed to the amphitheater, hoping to get front-row seats. Posters filled the vast Golden Bear Theater, Key Clubbers’ roars and cheers echoed within the space, and bright colors permeated throughout. The auditorium was brimming with energy.

Once the spirit session started, the cheers were deafening, as members tried to display as much spirit as they could. A prize, the Spirit Stick, would be rewarded to the division with the loudest cheers, most enthusiasm and spirit, and best demonstration of teamwork and synchronization. Because of this, all the divisions shouted as much as they could, and though it was tiring, pressed on, determined to exhibit the the most passion for Key Club.

The spirit session continued for an hour and half, and Key Clubbers showed off the customized cheers that they had practiced for months leading up to this very day. By the end of the rally, everyone was feeling exhausted, yet energized by the positivity and fervor radiating from one another.

“Fall Rally was so much fun, and I had the best time getting to know other people and cheering in unison with everyone from California, Nevada, and Hawaii. There was so much spirit and great energy all around,” says Felicity Le, junior at Valencia High School and first-time attendee of Fall Rally.

With the spirit session over, members were now free to roam the park for the rest of the day, continuing to meet new Key Clubbers from other divisions and riding the roller-coasters with newly-made friends. There would be occasional spirit battles as well, but the important part was to end on good terms, both parties encouraging one another. At the end of the day, everyone was there for the same reason, with the same purpose.
