Some people are arguing that this law is beneficial for the citizens of the United States. The jobs that are often taken by the illegal immigrants can be returned to Americans, and many jobs will be available once they leave. However, there is an argument indicating that these jobs are mostly jobs that nobody wants, such as hard labor, low salary jobs, and those related with unsanitary or dangerous working conditions.
Furthermore, there are many undocumented immigrants who are being separated from their children. They have lived in the United States for many years and are suddenly being deported. Many children born in the U.S. witnessed their parents being taken away by authorities and have been in foster care and unfamiliar environments ever since. There are protests against the immigration law so that the children will not be separated from their parents.

Although the deportation is an ongoing process, the Mexican government, churches, and many other people are contributing to help the thousands of undocumented immigrants from being deported through protests and strikes. For instance, on February 16, thousands of immigrants and their children did not go to school or work. The day was called a “Day Without Immigrants” to show people what the world would be like without immigrants. To show support that they are all in the cause together, many businesses closed for the day, too.
