In order to welcome students back from Winter Break, student councils from each school hosted spirit weeks and pep rallies to boost up their school’s spirits. The hallways and classrooms bustled with laughter and catching-up. Students at Korea International School were greeted with an exciting week ahead of them on Monday with two pep rallies, class-bonding activities, various thematic dress-up days, and the school’s very first “Homecoming” dance to wrap up the week.
“It was nice to have the pep rally on the first day of school. I got to see everyone’s face,” said Allison Park, a junior at Korea International School.
Although the library and the student lounge was filled with students studying for the January 24 Standardized Aptitude Test, students they didn’t forget to show their school spirits. On Tuesday, freshmen dressed up as characters from fantasy movies, sophomores as characters from animations, juniors as characters from sci-fi movies, and seniors as characters from super hero movies.
Daniel Choi, a student at Seoul international School said, “I think an advantage of having spirit week on the first week of school is that it makes the new kids feel a little more welcome.”
