La Cañada High School’s Playhouse has done it once again. From Oct. 20-22, a group of well-fitted actors and actresses performed ‘The Curious Savage” as if it was a story of their own. Not only did they bring laughter to their audiences, but they also finished the play with a heart-warming ending.
“I thought the beginning was a little boring and slow, but as the story went on I started to understand the moral the story was trying to present,” said Sophomore Sofia Kim. “The characters did an amazing job of pushing me to take another look of the people around me and have a different yet positive perspective of them.”
Greediness associated with wealth is a big part of the story. The play showed how a piece of “paper” can mean much more than the love and trust people give one another.
Sophomore Abe Cho from La Canada High School stated, “This play was really touching, but it made me open my eyes to the effect of money. It was bitter to see how much people go through just to receive money. It made me realize that anything can control people.”
It took the actors and actresses seven weeks to practice and perform The Curious Savage, during which many of them had important life experiences.
Lindsay LaBrecque, who starred as Lily Belle, said, “I really enjoyed practicing for the play, and a considerable amount of my enjoyment came from the people I was with. Everybody sort of knew each other in the beginning , but by the end we evolved to being like family. Whenever we pass the hallways or see each other, we tell each other how we don’t know what to do with ourselves because the play is finally over.”
