As past James Bond series have done, Skyfall, did not fail its audience to give the suspense and action they expected. Skyfall, directed by Sam Mendes, was released on Nov. 9, 2012 worldwide, welcoming the high rating from its viewers and the movie critics.
James Bond was played by Daniel Craig in Skyfall. Craig has played the role of Bond since 2005; he has previously appeared in Casino Royale (2006) and Quantum of Solace (2008). Craig has stated in an interview, “I love playing the role of James Bond and am grateful to have the opportunity.”
In the movie, Craig plays Bond, investigating an attack on M16 as he tries to protect M from Raoul Silva’s attempt to murder M. Movie critics of “Rotten Tomato” rated Skyfall with the score of 92 out of 100. The public generally seems to have a positive opinion about Skyfall but some have mixed feeling about the film.
Wesley Morris, a movie critic, stated, “These are truly tedious stakes for an action movie. The franchise isn’t worried about world safety. It’s fretting over whether to start wearing Depends.” While other critics like Keith Phipps stated, “Skyfall doesn’t forget it has to be an exciting spy film above all, but from its first scene, it ratchets up the drama in ways that have little to do with action.”
According to Box office, this 2 hour 15 minute long movie has made about 161 million dollars in just two weeks since the release date, and is currently running in second place after The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn.
James Bond series is the longest movie franchise in the movie industry, making its twenty third production of Skyfall. It will continue on its journey, going through even more great directors and actors as it has been doing since 1971.
